Terms of Service

By creating an account or using Timingl, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree with them, don’t use the service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Timingl. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you should review these terms with a parent or guardian.

If you are under 18, you may only buy a Timingl+ subscription with the involvement and permission of a parent or guardian, using a payment method they have agreed you can use. If a subscription was started without that permission, email us and we will cancel it.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your sign-in secure. Tell us at hello@timingl.com if you think someone else has access to it.

Timingl reads availability from calendars you connect, calculates when everyone in a group is free, and proposes times. When a group confirms a time, Timingl adds an event to a dedicated Timingl calendar in each member’s account.

When Timingl reads a friend’s calendar, it asks only for times — never event names, guests, locations or notes. Your own event names are shown back to you on your own compare page so you can tell your blocks apart, and are never stored or shown to anyone else. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

You agree not to:

• Use Timingl to harass, stalk, or monitor anyone, or to gather information about someone’s whereabouts without their knowledge.
• Connect a calendar you don’t own or have permission to use.
• Attempt to break, overload, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service.
• Scrape the service or use it to build a competing product.
• Use Timingl for anything illegal.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, usually without warning where the conduct affects other people.

Blocking and reporting. Next to anyone’s name in Timingl there is a Block button and a Report button. Blocking is immediate and needs no one’s approval: they stop being able to find you, add you, plan with you, or see your saved places, and you stop seeing theirs. They are not told. Reporting sends what you write to a person.

You can also email safety@timingl.com. We read every report and act on it within 24 hours. You do not need to be certain, and you will never get in trouble for reporting something that turns out to be nothing.

You keep ownership of anything you put into Timingl. You give us permission to store and display it only as far as needed to operate the service, for example showing your name and proposed times to the friends in your group.

Everything needed to plan a hangout (finding shared free time, proposing and confirming a time, unlimited friends and hangouts, invite links, and notifications) is free, and we intend to keep it that way. Timingl+ is an optional paid subscription that adds personalization, a + badge on your avatar that other people can see, a longer planning window, higher limits on place search and favorites, and your full stats history. Free accounts can compare the next week or two weeks; comparing a month ahead or choosing your own dates needs Timingl+. Each limit is shown in the app where it applies.

What it costs. Timingl+ is sold as a monthly or a yearly subscription. The current price for each is shown on the upgrade page and again on the checkout page before you pay. Prices are listed there rather than here so this page can never quote a figure that has gone out of date.

Billing and renewal. You pay at the start of each billing period. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of every period, each month for a monthly plan and each year for a yearly one, until you cancel. Renewals are charged to the payment method you gave at checkout. If a payment fails, we may retry it and Timingl+ features may switch off until it succeeds.

Changing the price. We may change what Timingl+ costs. If we do, we will tell you before the change applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from Settings, which opens the billing portal run by our payment processor. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your Timingl+ features stay on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then your account returns to the free tier. Nothing you made is deleted when that happens. Your favorites, hangouts and saved color choices all remain, and any that are Timingl+ features simply stop being applied until you subscribe again.

Refunds. Payments are generally non-refundable, and we do not give partial refunds for the unused part of a period. You keep access until it ends instead. If you were charged in error, charged after cancelling, or a paid feature was broken for a meaningful stretch of time, email us at hello@timingl.com and we will put it right. This does not affect any refund or cancellation rights you have under the law where you live, which apply regardless of what this paragraph says.

If we stop offering Timingl+. If we discontinue the subscription or close your account for a reason other than you breaking these terms, we will refund the unused part of what you have paid.

Timingl relies on Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook Calendar, depending on how you sign in. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. If a provider changes or restricts its service, parts of Timingl may stop working, and that is outside our control.

Payments for Timingl+ are handled by Stripe, and are subject to Stripe’s own terms. Your card details go to Stripe directly and are never seen or stored by Timingl.

Timingl is provided as is. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time; if that includes a paid feature, see the refund paragraph under Timingl+ subscriptions above. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error free, or that proposed times will always be correct. Confirm important plans directly with the people involved.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Timingl is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Timingl and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any missed plans, lost data, or lost opportunities arising from your use of the service.

You agree to cover us for any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, or your violation of someone else’s rights — except where that claim comes from our own violation of these terms or the law.

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in Settings. You can revoke calendar access separately through your calendar provider’s settings. We may close your account if you break these terms.

If you have a Timingl+ subscription, cancel it before deleting your account, so that no further payment is taken. If you delete your account with a subscription still running, email us and we will cancel it.

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Timingl after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Most problems are easier to fix by just emailing us than by filing anything. Before starting a formal claim, email hello@timingl.com and describe the issue — we’ll try to resolve it directly.

Arbitration. If that doesn’t resolve things, you and Timingl agree that any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Timingl will be resolved by binding, individual arbitration rather than in court, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules.

No class actions. Each of us can only bring a claim in an individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative proceeding, and the arbitrator has no power to combine more than one person’s claims into one proceeding.

What this doesn’t cover. Either of us can bring an individual claim in small claims court instead, if it qualifies. This section also doesn’t require arbitration of a claim for injunctive relief to stop misuse of the service, or of a claim about intellectual property rights.

Opting out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement entirely. To do so, email hello@timingl.com with “Arbitration opt-out” in the subject line, from the email address on your account, within 30 days of first agreeing to these terms. Opting out doesn’t affect anything else in these terms, and it won’t be held against you.

This section doesn’t apply if you live in the European Union or United Kingdom. Consumer-protection law there gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts regardless of what this section says, and nothing here overrides that.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. This applies to anything not covered by the arbitration agreement above.
